Session 136 - 3th of December 1399
This week's adventurers:
Blossom (Rogue 6)
Mayfly (Magician 6)
Ulf (Magician 6)
Liminal Space (Changeling 5)
Yevgeny the Coward (Cleric 5)
Pataki (Rogue 5)
Felix (Dwarf 4)
Hirelings: Hartnid (Rogue 3), Baldekinus, Elger, idk a bunch others?
Downtime in the Village
Last week, sans Ulf, the party recovered a Ring of Summon Genie from the Abbey.
In our downtime since, Liminal has summoned the Genie solely to become better friends with them.
The Genie tells Liminal that the Countess of Blackleg has a magical letter in her possession that they desire. Should he recover this letter for the Genie and replace it with a counterfeit so she doesn't notice, the Genie will become his friend.
Ulf seeks knowledge to create beastmen of his own, like the type found in the Abbey, but all he learns is that his magic is yet beyond his grasp.
DM tells me that Ulf needs to be level 9 for such magic.
Felix searches for other dwarves to befriend(?) in the village, but finds none. He hears that there are groups of dwarves in nearby Blackleg.
Pataki's possession worsens and hits a tipping point.
Oh That's Bad
Yevgeny comes home one day to see her floating and doing other weird shit.
The cursed water she drank back in Session 128 has resulted in a legion of demons invading her mind.
Liminal uses his magic ring to cast Turn Undead on the possessed Pataki, but fails to cast out the legion of demons within her.
Mayfly comes up to the party's house to find Hartnid running out and hiding behind him as a possessed Pataki flies through the house, cackling and breaking shit.
Liminal flees the house while we debate what to do.
Plans and Proposals
Ulf proposes killing Pataki and making Hartnid the new Pataki.
Yevgeny throws holy water on her, which burns her but does not cast out the demons.
Liminal then bursts back into the room, with Halfdan the Black in tow, the most powerful Magician in town!
He brandishes a magic ring and attempts to cast out the demons, but fails too.
He gets a stream of piss-vomit launched into his face as a reward from Pataki.
Wiping his face clean, he orders our cleric to cast Hold Person on the possessed Pataki.
Which he does so.
An Actual Plan Now
Pataki, held, Halfdan orders us to take her to Lychgate for healing, and warns us that the possession may become permanent if we delay.
Pataki makes a save every week - on a fail, the possession become permanent.
While the rest of us tie up Pataki, Mayfly runs home and grabs his possessed gold skull, which contains the spirit of a great Magician, the Master, Edric.
Mayfly begs for help with the possession, in exchange for us finding more of his golden bones in the Abbey.
I Don't Think The DM Even Knows If This Is Helping Or Not
Mayfly take the golden possessed skull and presses it against Pataki, forehead to forehead.
Edric's disembodied spirit manages to overwhelm the host of demons, but now Pataki is possessed by the mind of an immortal wizard! And the demons are still in her head too.
Ulf and Blossom bind her with rope while they send off a hireling to buy chain.
We buy a bunch, like 80', and tie Pataki up and set off for Lychgate, in hopes of freeing her.
This was a weird (complimentary) session. A downtime event, triggered by something that happened 8 sessions ago, ended up becoming the entire session, and will now take us on the road next week. I'm looking forward to what will happen next time, especially what will happen to Pataki if we don't save her in time.
